Wanted: The Perfect Pet

The book Wanted: The Perfect Pet is written by Fiona Robertson and it is about a boy who wanted a dog and a duck who is lonely, the boy posted an AD and the duck sees the AD and disguised as a dog and got busted when he slipped and he took the duck and get the skills of a duck and it is the perfect pet. One of my connections is that I used is that once I thought I like a dog but my mom got a cat and I think it is pretty good. Connections for books is very good because there are always books about realizing that they wanted something but another was better for them. A connection made by world and media is that there are news stories about it like the boy uses the newspaper to get the ADs. The book is generally a good book but it never told us the illustrator but the illustrations are good and simple.

The Boy Who Harness The Wind

The Boy Who Harness The Wind by William Kam Kwamba and illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon is a book about wind. In a small village where people can’t feed themselves, a boy named Malawi wants to create electricity and used wind by doing that, he first gets harassed and teased but when he achieved his goal people cheered for him. One of my connections to self is that I sometimes do stuff that makes people thinks I am crazy but then when I am finished they cheer for me, that is kind of two-faced. One of the things is that I read the book of The Boy Who Harnesses The Wind and I know the details, so one of the connections I made to another book is about the animals in the novel, they all symbolize something and it does in the novel, too. The book to the world and media is that I have seen several reports on him and that the world is pretty influenced by him. overall, this is a really good book.Image result for The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind .       Image result for The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

Do Cell Phones Belong in School?

The article is about how cell phones can be good or bad and their own arguments about being in school. It summarizes the good and bad sides of a cell phone, it also gives some information about them and for people to have a little background about these devices. It also suggests you could use it as a modern and have apps to monitor your time online. For question number one, there is drawbacks and advantages. One of the drawbacks is that you could get too attached to the phone and not pay attention to class anymore, or that they will do other things that are not related to school. A good advantage is that you could use the online resource and use them to study even more. I think sometimes the drawback does overlap the good advantages, but I think mostly that good students don’t do that, and they could have some punishments.

After the Fall How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again

After the Fall How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again is a book written and illustrated by Dan Santat is a book that has a historical background from England. One of the text to self connections I made is that used to fall down and do things am afraid of and now I am no longer afraid of things. One of the many texts to text connections I made is there are a lot of other books that teach you how to stand back up after you fall down, either literally or have a deeper meaning. The text to media connections I made is that there are always posts online and encouraging things online that helps you or hurt you. You always need to get back up from anything that hurts you and encourage whatever benefits you. The book, in general, is pretty good, the illustrations were very good and easy to understand.Image result for after the fall how humpty dumpty got back up again

The Noisy Paint Box: The Colours and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract

The Noisy Paint Box: The Colours and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract written by Barb Rosenstock and illustrated by Mary Grandpré is a great book at a famous people’s life. A text to self-connection I made is that adults don’t believe me but it is true, and they just try to shoo me away and make me do things that they consider useful. One of the text to text connections I made Is like in Harry Potter nobody believes him and Harry eventually have to explore it himself, with the abstract things, of course. One of many texts to world connections I made is in The Noisy Paint Box: The Colours and Sounds of Kandinsky’s Abstract people do believe in original stuff, like flowers and house not like abstract. In the real world, people still are kind of obsessed with the original stuff. In a lot of text to media connections, I made there is one that stands out, there is a lot of Kandinsky books that people published and to appreciate his artwork. overall this is a pretty good book and tells you about another great artist’s young life.

There

There written by Marie-Louise Fitzpatrick is about there. This is a book of coming of age and the beauty of simplicity themes. The text to self connections I made is that sometimes I like to do things and leave the other things to tomorrow and that is what the book means by”I’ll go there tomorrow”. One of the many texts to text connections I made is there is a lot of philosophical books that have a simple theme but have a deeper meaning, The text to the world is probably a lot of people in the world are waiting to be “there” and have all the same questions in the book. A text to media I made is That a lot of people on the internet is like being there and is very easy to be “there”, but in the real world it is not and people always get mixed up. The illustrations is really good and paired with the word it means a lot. Overall this is a good book.

Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa

Wangari’s Trees of Peace: A True Story from Africa written by Jeanette Winter is a book about real-life and the environment. in the book and real life a girl named Wangari and she won a scholarship to go to America.  When she returned the forest was chopped down, so she decided to grow tree in the Kenya. The women got abuse and everybody just ignored them, the greenbelt movement and people grow tree now over thirty million but once where none trees. There is a connection I made is the natural I have been to, in Beijing there once were tree and everything, but when I return to visit from Canada most of them are gone and new buildings rises and was built high. It make me wonder about why they cut them down. The connection that I made to the text is I read books about the environment and all of them saids we shall protect them in the book. The connection I made to the world is a bunch of newspapers says about this stuff and sometime go the the headlines, but still everyone barely cares. Connections I made to the Media is people are talking about the environment and posting their solutions online and people could discuss it. In the book, the Illustration is really easy to see and understand. All in all this book is a very good book for people who cares about the environment.

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jaques Cousteau

The Fantastic Undersea Life of Jaques Cousteau written and illustrated by Dan Yaccarino is a great biography about Jaques Cousteau. Jaques Cousteau was a  boy who loves the ocean, so he invented a scuba diving suit and started his own TV show. He created the sea shutter and underwater labs. His TV show inspired a lot of people and to protect the ocean. A connection of self to text is that I have been scuba diving and know how beautiful it is, so we should definitely protect it. a text to text connection is that a lot of other books I’ve read about the ocean always end with something like “we should protect the ocean.” or things similar to that. A text to world connection is a lot of newspaper I have read talks about how the ocean is in danger or some ocean animal is endangered. A text to media connection is that a lot of blogs and famous learning site all have things about the ocean or even Jaques Cousteau himself. For example, BrainPOP even has a video talking about the whole if of Jaques Cousteau. Because of Jaques Cousteau and his TV show, he succeeds to make people love the ocean and protect them from dying. He protected and loved a lot of things and he is a true hero.

Enemy Pie

Enemy Pie written and illustrated by Derek Munson is a book about friendship. In the book a boy wants his enemy gone and his dad told him to make an enemy pie and he has to spend some time with his enemy. Then they spend time and became friends and had a great summer. A connection that I made out of many is that me and my friends(text to text). I and my friend had fights, and when that happens he goes find someone else to play and leave me stranded, after some time either I or he get meet up and become friends again. In the world connections (text to world), I have something too. In the world and the newspapers, I sometimes will see headlines of people killing each other because of this enemy thing, they do not talk about being friends but killing each other, things in this book is happening all over the world but no one in the new is encouraging about it. so it will just have more bad things. The online world connection is not a lot, but I still can find some (text to media). And I think people online can do that kind of things too. Like making friends online and deleting them, that is sometimes the truth that is happening. All in all, there are many connections you can make with this book.

Kindness #5

Yesterday I helped my friend up when he slipped, we were at my house and he tripped. I decided to do this because it looks like it hurts and he may need a hand. He likes it because I could have just left him there and he will stand up himself, but I helped him so he is pleased.
